Program Description

Event Details

Are you seeking resources to help fund projects for your library? Perhaps new shelving, a space make-over, or an expansion project is on the horizon. Maybe community needs are driving new programming--like financial literacy, job searching, or health education--or new services--like a Makerspace, home delivery, or teleheath capability. Grant funding can be an important part of maintaining a vibrant, sustainable community. But where to begin?

SCKLS wants to support your grant writing efforts! You are invited to join other SCKLS member library staff for expert guidance at an all-day grant writing workshop to be held at the Advanced Learning Library in Wichita. Community Vitality Specialist Nancy Knopp Daniels, of K-State Research and Extension (KSRE), will provide resources to help you write and submit successful grant proposals to improve lives and livelihoods in your community.

What you will learn:

  • How to conquer grant writing fears and start writing
  • Sources of data for community needs
  • Where to find grants
  • Elements of a great grant proposal (including valuable hands-on practice!)

Successful grant writing can help your library serve your community by fostering engagement and supporting lifelong learning. Whether you've never written a grant proposal before or have experience but are looking for ways to improve, you won't want to miss this opportunity to gain valuable know-how, skills, and confidence!

LIBRARY GRANT WRITING SURVEY

Please share your thoughts about pursuing grant funding for your library. Library directors, employees, and board members are invited to complete this survey. Please fill out the survey even if you don't plan to attend the workshop.

Guest presenter Nancy Knopp Daniels, MPA, is a community vitality specialist with K-State Research and Extension and the author of many grant proposals. Over the past seven years, she has taught grant writing to more than 2,900 people, mostly local citizens across Kansas. Nancy has also served as the area director for Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters, the director of community initiatives for United Way of Greater Topeka and earned her Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from the University of Kansas.
