Program Description

Event Details

Rural and small libraries face real challenges: shrinking budgets, limited staff, and not nearly enough hours in the day. How do you engage your community, especially busy families and adults, without straining your resources? You employ your small library superpowers...

Innovation, creativity, and heart are power tools in your toolbox! Join guest presenter Chelsea Price, director of the small (yet mighty!) Meservey Public Library, to learn how impactful these tools can be. Serving fewer than 220 residents, Chelsea has turned shoestring programming into a fine art — tripling program attendance and building joyful, memorable experiences with limited dollars and space.

You’ll feel refreshed, inspired, and ready to try new programs that delight your community. Join us to discover how big your small library can be.

In this webinar, you'll learn:

  • Approaches for developing adult and family programs with minimal cost
  • Ways to leverage community partnerships to expand your offerings
  • Ideas you can implement immediately—no large budget required

SPECIAL OFFER!

The first 20 webinar registrants who attend the live event
will receive a complimentary copy of Chelsea Price's book,
209 Big Programming Ideas for Small Budgets.

You may also borrow the SCKLS professional collection copy
by emailing Katherine Williams, SCKLS Library Support Specialist.

Guest presenter Chelsea Price is the director of the Meservey Public Library in Meservey, Iowa. Chelsea has presented at various ARSL conferences, given webinars for PCI Webinars, Niche Academy, and ALA, and written many blog posts for Programming Librarian. Chelsea’s book, 209 Big Programming Ideas for Small Budgets, was published in October 2020 through ALA Editions and in partnership with ARSL. When not at the library, she loves volunteering at various animal shelters around the state.
