Event Details

Whether you're a library director supervising a team or a trustee involved in hiring leadership, understanding the evolving landscape of human resources is critical. From recruitment to retirement, library leaders are expected to navigate a wide range of HR responsibilities with professionalism, fairness, and legal awareness.

Join Dr. Steve Albrecht, SHRM-certified human resources consultant, as you navigate practical HR guidelines, new approaches, and best practices--all tailored specifically for libraries. Explore the full spectrum of the employment cycle--from hiring and onboarding to performance management and staff development.

Performing HR functions is one of many in your multifaceted role as library leader, but it touches every part of the employee experience. HR success is achieved when your team chooses to stay, to exceed performance standards, to collaborate effectively, and to serve patrons with empathy, patience, and professionalism. Let's reach for this goal together.

In this webinar, you will learn about:

  • Structuring a successful employment cycle
  • Enhancing your hiring process with legal and ethical insights
  • Creating impactful onboarding and orientation programs
  • Fostering workplace civility and addressing generational differences
  • Coaching staff to improve performance and behavior
  • Initiating fair and legal progressive discipline and terminations
  • Conducting fair and meaningful performance evaluations
  • Supporting professional growth through mentorship and career planning

Don't miss this special opportunity! Live webinar attendees will receive a copy of Steve Albrecht's new book, The Library Leader's Guide to Human Resources: Keeping It Real, Legal, and Ethical (Bloomsbury, April 2025)--compliments of SCKLS.
