Program Description

Event Details

STEAM activities--those incorporating science, tech, engineering, art, and math--are a creative and fun way to add a bit of adventure to your summer library programming. Wouldn't it be nice to have a vetted resource to help you discover the best programs--ones that provide you with instructions and kits to save time and help you feel confident and inspired?!

Public Library Innovation Exchange (PLIX) may be just the adventure guide you need! PLIX is a creative learning resource made available to library professionals through the MIT Media Lab. Join PLIX Creative Learning Ambassador Jennifer McCulley, also McPherson Public Library's youth service coordinator, as she shows you how to navigate the PLIX website and allows you to experience a creative learning activity.

Don't miss this fun exploration of ready-made programming ideas perfect for your summer adventurers! Join the webinar at 1 p.m. for time to catch up and share ideas with other summer library programming planners; the presentation will start at 1:15 p.m.

In this webinar, you will:

  • Identify a new resource for STEAM support
  • Plan new programming ideas to support STEAM learning
  • Identify time saving features of the PLIX web site

Meet guest presenter Jennifer McCulley. If you have ever wondered if you could build a five-foot-long hollow alien and fill it with pudding and spaghetti, you and Jennifer McCulley might just get along. From giant aliens to a tote bag made out of pants, there isn't much that this youth services coordinator won't try at least once in her journey to find crafts and activities that tweens and teens in McPherson will love.
