Program Description

Event Details

Do you want to get the right materials into patrons' hands without breaking the bank or overcrowding shelves? If you're nodding and you work at a KICNET library, then this webinar is for you! Providing interlibrary loan (ILL) services grows the reach of your collection exponentially and is key to supporting the diverse needs in your local community, in Kansas, and possibly throughout our nation.

Become a proficient KICNET (Kansas Information Circuit Network) and ILL participant by joining Katherine Williams, SCKLS library support specialist, to gain a deeper understanding of ILL best practices, benefits and processes. Learn how to place and manage ILL requests (both lending and borrowing), ship materials, and efficiently maintain records for Kansas and out-of-state ILLs.

In this webinar, you will:

  • Review the process of placing ILL requests as a borrowing library and managing requests as a lending library
  • Discover new techniques for searching the KLC
  • Explore settings and preferences in your SHAREit account
  • Implement best practices in ILL to better participate in the ILL community

What is KICNET and how do I know if my library participates? KICNET is the computerized interlibrary loan network for Kansas libraries provided by the State Library of Kansas. Check this linked list to see if your library is considered a KICNET or a SLAP library. KICNET librarians, please register using the form on this page!

If you work at a SLAP library, SCKLS is offering a webinar specifically for you on October 17. SLAP librarians, please register for the webinar Interlibrary Loan Essentials for SLAP Libraries here.
